I know I've been procrastinating on writing my first post of the year, Infact I have two drafts sitting on ice. Thankfully, I will spare you guys the horror of reading about how my boobs have grown (with pictures) in favor of something more exciting that came up.
Every 2 years, Femi Kuti comes to Washington DC, and I was favored to go to the concert in 2009. The concert is not heavily publicized, but the real FEMI kuti fans know to expect it, as evidenced by hundreds of fans (mostly white) who pack the halls of club 9:30. This year, I had marked my calendar and I wasn't going to miss it for the world.
We got a good, great standing spot right in front of the stage, and we were ready to rock the night away. Femi is such an awesome performer, a professional, so I won't waste my time trying to rate the concert. If you must know, it was an 11/10. You could tell that the set list was rehearsed and executed to perfection. Rather, I'm gonna tell you how Bumight morphed into the greatest alpha groupie of all time!
So the band is playing and ADERAYO yells, "yeah, he got cute band members", and so a mini-game of "spot the cute ones" ensued. Then someone pointed out the guy playing the guitar and I'm like yeah, he's cute.because we were standing right Infront of e stage, the piano was blocking all my shots at making eye contact.
Bride price : $50,000
Anyways, so we were grooving and tingz, and Femi left the stage, but the band kept playing for a few mins. SO Unsuspecting Victim came to the front to lead. Thank heavens! cos the placement of Femi's keyboard had been blocking my efforts. Then he recached out to touch the crowd. Fam, he touched my hand! *clutches pearls* like Omigosh! this is like totally fate speaking! Infact, I made sure not to touch anything else with that hand and promptly washed it into a bowl, poured the contents inside a vial which I'm going to wear round my neck for eternity
Brideprice: $5,000After the show was over, and we were plotting how to get backstage, (yeah, this groupie biz is NOT for the faint hearted!) *wipes sweat off my brow*, someone walked past us, it was the neck piece I noticed first! Blogville, see the way I flung myself on him, I made sure to take a pic (which I will NOT be posting on this blog!)
Brideprice:$500
Then later on, Rayo went upstairs to see if she could get pictures with Femi, and I just tagged along - and I saw him again. After my girls gave me the clear, I walked up to him and made conversation. In short, 2+2 = 22!
Brideprice: $50
I think I'm getting bolder...and it's all you guys' fault! Yes, that's my story and I'm sticking to it! Fam, I think my bride price is looking like the stock market looked during the depression. O well, I had an amazing time!
PS: I still love you Femi!!!....but we love Ope moreeee!
