I recently downloaded the "fitness pro" app so that I could keep track
of my caloric intake for the day. You'd be surprised at where all the
calories you consume are coming from. The good news is, there are so
many healthy substitutes for these unhealthy/ high caloric foods.
I know myself, I don't do well with diets. Frankly, most peoole don't. what happens is you almost always end up craving all the things you stopped eating, then going on a binge. Instead, I decided to take a gradual approach to things.
Almond Milk for Regular Milk:
This has to be my biggest breakthrough
yet. I saw this on biolstagram's Instagram page. Almond milk has 60
calories as opposed to 1% milk. If you go for unsweetened almond milk,
that's even 30 calories! What this means for me is I can have / packs of
oatmeal and still be under 300 calories, than having one pack of
oatmeal with a cup of milk for the same.
almonds for Salted Peanuts
As part of the eating healthy thing, I decided to incorporate healthy snacks. I started with salted peanuts, pretty much because I've eaten peanuts all my life. Turns out the salt makes it a tad unhealthy, then someone introduced me to almonds, and an addict was born!
Almonds have more fat - but its the healthy kind (Mono Unsaturated Fatty Acids). I try not to over indulge.
juice for Sodas
I think soda was responsible for 80% of the weight I gained last year. There was a time I had a can of soda with almost every meal - even breakfast! I decided to cut back on soda and had V8 juices instead. Not totally healthy, but healthier than the crap I was putting in my body.
Lemon Water for Juice
Then I went on the Daniel fast for a month and couldn't have juices. Instead, I would put 3 drops of lemon into my cup of water, and all of a sudden it wasn't that bad to drink water.
Whole grain bread for White bread
Another healthy substitution you could do is whole grain bread for white bread.
