2008 ME Awards

I figured that this would be a good way to end the year 2008.

Movies
For someone who didnt go to the movies a lot this year, this is going to be quite difficult.
Worst Movie: 10,000 B.C such a huge letdown on so many levels. a waste of $8:99! W is a close second.

Second Best: Dark Knight

Best movie: Eagle Eye has to be the best movie i saw this year.

Food

From someone who doesn't experiment with food,
Worst Meal/Snack: Thai food. no matter what, I can't seem to get it right.

Second Best: Its a tie between Kung Pao Chicken and General Tso's chicken

Best Meal Snack: Goat Pepper soup. heaven!

Drink
Worst Drink: The crappy sodas that those chinese people give you when u place an order over $20. Free is not so free afterall!

Second Best: Green Tea. remember when I started the "campaign"? well, its sort of stuck now.

Best Drink: Amaretto Sour. I order this all the time when I go clubbing. I guess this is my security drink.

Music
Worst Song: I dont think any song really got on my nerves in 2008, and if it did, I just refuse to listen to it.

Second Best: "Jizz in my pants". if you havent heard it, you should youtube it. LOL!

Best Song: "Swagga like us" by my baby T.I. I know, I'm partial. My best Nigerian song though is "Party Rider", by 9ice.

Moment
Worst Moment(s): I'll say being almost-"mugged" in my own house. here's the post

Second Best: The moments I spent during eacch exam week, studying with friends. They say misery loves company. When you spend 14 hour days with the same people, you can't help but bond.

Best Moment: Taking out time to spend one of the holidays with my girlfriends out of town, even though I had an exam immediately after the holidays. I'm glad I did. My school has this nasty habit of scheduling exams right after holidays, their way of messing up ur runs.

Fashion
I am an accessorymaniac! This award is very fickle, subject to change. It depends on what I'm feeling at the moment.
Worst Kit/Accessory: I don't think I have any.

Second Best: My cocktail rings.

Best Accessory: Make-up! 2008 was a year of beautiful make-up for me. It was almost my motivation for going to school everyday! LOL!

Toy
Worst Toy: My camera. I need a new one. Nuff said!

Second Best: My ever faithful Tablet PC. we spend at least 10 hours a day together, we've bonded seriously :)

Best Toy: My phone. It was already on my christmas list, but i kinda got impatient and bought it myself.

Person(s)
Most Difficult Person: I am a happy person, you cant help but love me, Its impossible to be difficult around me :) (what am I feeling like shey?)

Second Best: A very special friend. sometimes i think i dont deserve the friends i have.

Best Person: My baby! He's been wonderful this year.

Favorite Blog Post(s)
By another blogger: I just want to vote, See me, See Trouble, Any post written by Carl, and This is for you bumight (more bloggers should write posts detailing their love for me!)

Written by you: The man, the son and the donkey. I bared my soul on this one and I had fun doing it, thanks to you guys!

Lesson/Skill
Worst Lesson/Skill: sheer will power isn't enough.

Second Best: Everything isn't black or white. There are areas a shade of grey.

Best Lesson/Skill: Do not worry about pleasing everybody, it is impossible, unnecessary, and brings no satisfaction.

This is obviously my last post for the year. Happy New year guys!

Been an angel all year,

The Litman Cardiology III stethescope,

Santa cutie, and fill my stocking with a duplex,
And checks.

The sweet smell of freedom...

I feel drained yet so happy… I don’t want to hear anything relating to kidneys, lungs or I’ll scream…

Thanks to Michael Buble, Craig David, Westlife, Backstreet boys, T.I, Sunny Ade and Asa for getting me through those long study nights….

I cant believe I actually stayed away for so long, but I did it. At first I still checked my reader once a day, but since last week, I’ve had no time. So what did I miss?

Just Toluwa is being handled by an Ibo man, Allied got the hook ups, Baroque went on a rant, and NDQ finished her exams too. I was really jealous when I read that post, I was so tempted to scream “I HATE YOU!” on her page, and then what happens?

Two days later I had a dream and Aloofar and NDQ were in it (and no, it wasn’t a threesome!). I would tell you about the dream but…. All I can say is NDQ looked like a fulani babe, I met her at a photo shoot, and Aloofar was also there.

Now that my exams are done, I can go back to loving NDQ, lol! I’m going to go catch up on the loves of my blog life. You know who you are!

Oh, and Naapali quit blogging in my absence, so I’ve ascended the throne as the chief Babalawo of Blogville. I really will miss him though.

Now I can start with my pile of laundry, Christmas shopping and packing! First, I need to catch up on my sleep, but not before the party tonight. I need to take out my hair, get a new hair style, get my eyebrows done. I think I deserve a manicure and pedicure too.

Ps: please forgive if the post doesn’t make much sense, this is coming from a sleep deprived mind. 

Bumight the stressed-out-of-her-mind medical student!

I wasn't going to update my blog till I get done with school, because seriously, a new curve ball has been thrown into my finely tarred path and so school has just all of a sudden become very stressful.

my plan was to delay updating till school's over for the semester and channel all my efforts into studying cos I thought I'd be so busy that i wont have time to update. Then I thought about all the lives that would be thrown into a crisis if I dont update *wink*, and then i had a rethink. I am technically busy, but I'm staying off blogville for discipline issues.

This means that I'm not gallivanting all over shouting "FIRST" on everyone's blog, which I can still conveniently do since blogging is so ingrained into my personal schedule, but I'll leave my crown to Temite for safe keeping.

I've been having a generally stress free semester until very recently. All I can say is that anybody that wants to pour sand in my garri, Gravel would be poured into their garri/grits/cereal/ogi or whatever the blast they drink!

I guess I really can't stay off because when things get too stressful for me, I write. That's what this blog was actually created for. So till the semester ends, i'll be taking all my fustrations out on my blog. Allow me to introduce to you "Bumight the stressed-out-of-her-mind medical student!".

I won't be leaving or replying comments- which'll be the hardest part. don't worry it'll all be over in 2 weeks.

Love you guys!

Releasing your inner bailarina de salsa....

...while having fun.

There was a restaurant/bar downstairs, and dance "studio" upstairs. My friends and I headed there a couple of days ago to celebrate with another friend.

I had always planned on going salsa dancing, but somehow something always came up. Either we couldn't get all of us to agree on a date, or someone didnt show up.
Once we drove downtown for a one hour class, and spent almost 40 minutes looking for parking.

This time, the stars were aligned in our favor, and so we found ourselves standing in the doorway. Everyone was paired learning what we later found out to be the "basic steps".

We were three girls, without any patners, so we stood on the sidelines cos we didn't want to interrupt the class, and it didnt look like there was space for us.

"alright, switch patners!"

and then the instructor grabbed my hand, and attempted to do the dance with me. clearly he didnt see me walk in just a few minutes ago, and I obviously had no idea what they were doing.

He showed me how to do the dance, and very soon we found ourselves in the middle of the dancefloor with the group. One of my friends graciously accepted to be the "dude".

I didn't think I was going to learn that much, but at the end of the day, I had learnt the basic steps and gotten decent at the other moves the instructor showed us.

This post won't be complete without mentioning this gay dude in the class who kinda sucked. I mean most of us sucked, but this dude was special. There was this step that involved getting into a twist with ur hands and then doing a spin to untwist it (same move pictured above). Everybody he did it with still ended up being twisted at the end. Pretty much the male patner is the lead, and is supposed to direct the flow of the dance, which was why we always ended up being twisted, cos dude wasn't directing nothing!
After I did the move with someone else, who showed me what we were doing wrong, I later rotated and ended up with gay dude, and instead of waiting for him to turn me, i turned myself, and we got it right! you should have seen him literarily squirming with joy. lol!

There was an advanced class dancing right beside us. I was pretty much jealous watching them twist and turn like it was beans. I'm definitely going back to perfect my moves!

After we were done, there was salsa music playing for a while, so you could dance/practice your moves to your heart's content.

I had a great time, watch out for this bailarina.

PS: a couple of nights ago, I was watching Grey's anatomy and someone said something about first base, second base etc. Since guys wont tell, and since there's no consensus on google, I think i should ask you guys. what exactly is third base?

Bumight's 7 step Ghetto Workout Plan

I've been trying to study for my exams all weekend, so I made myself sparse on blogville. I've been doing a lot of studying at home lately, and that's been working out so-so. The good part is that I actually have a chance to enjoy my house and still get a lot of work done. The bad part is that I end up visiting the fridge every hour or so to snack. you can do the math. I'm sure there are a couple of people like me out there, that need to get their excercise on *or am I delusional?* Anyways, so I did some research, and voila! :

Are you bugged down with work? studying?
hips busting out of your clothes?
Don't have time to go to the gym?
well, bumight got u!

In my last post, webround asked if I had any ideas for guys? well, the workout plan is unisex!

Note: knowledge of the dance steps is ABSOLUTELY crucial to the proper execution and results. so lets get started:

1. Warm up to the cupid shuffle

2. then start with a full body cardio work out as you crank that souljah boy
Work your hamstrings, biceps and triceps

3. Work your hamstrings with the Two Step

4. Tighten those gluts by Pop, Locking and Droping it

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=79pLVeePF5w

5. then work on your gluts and hamstrings by Walking it Out

did i mention that it works your shoulder muscles too?

6. For a full body work up, Get silly (I'm not to blame for your head ache!)

7. finish off by Wiping it Down

lol, seriously though. this is fun. lemme know if you try it! plus, you'll be able to throw it down at any southern party! you can thank me when the pounds come off

shout out to Mizchif for making this post possible!

so let's say you were studying...

and you got bored...

then you take a look at your hands, then you suddenly get a bright idea!

and then you reach for the two bottles pictured below, and get to work...

and viola! then you take a moment to admire the work of your hands...

and then you get back to studying!

The End!

I used to ...

1. Smile
all the time. It was almost like the smile was plastered on my face, like the joker. When walking on the street, random people would ask me what I was smiling about. Nothing, I usually told them. That smile, it always attracted attention. It was a great conversation starter- and a great pick up line too.

In boarding school, I remember being almost punished a couple of times cos I refused to stop smiling. The seniors would call me for no reason and ask me to frown. I only smiled harder. Usually they ended up buying me chin-chin.

For the one year I was in college in Nigeria, in my fellowship, there was no question as to what group/subgroup I was to be placed in. Follow up and Ushering.
Then something happened. I don't even recall losing it, it just wasn't there anymore.
The reality hit me when one of the doctors I worked with over the summer said, "wow! she's smiling. you never smile".
"really?" I asked.
then my pastor said something along those lines, and I knew I had lost my smile.

I'm now consciously working on getting it back.
Now that you've been warned, don't be surprised if you see me smiling sheepishly at you. I don't think you're hot, I'm just trying to get my smile back.

2. be cool
now I'm razz. there, I said it!
you would imagine that when you come to yankee you become "creamer", not in my case. I think I'm razzer than I left naija, I'm still deciding on whom to blame.

My habits, my music selection, I just know. In Nigeria I would never ask for food at a gathering/party. Now, I only go to organizational meetings after I've been assured there'll be food (and good food too) and at parties, I reach for the take-away plate without shame.

I don't think listening to Nigerian music like Asa, Naeto C, P-square even 9ice is razz, but when I'm mouthing off to "Somebody call my name" and intermittently letting out "showky bobo", "sempe!" then we clearly have a problem. I didn't even like daddy showkey in Naija. Gawd! what happened to me?

3. be a lepa.
now I'm handing back my lepa pass in exchange for my orobo tag. This probably deserves a post on its own, but I recently stepped on the scales (since my roommate now has a scale in the house) and the evidence was there. see, I don't usually keep track of my weight, and my clothes have been fooling me. I still fit perfectly into my size 3 jeans and small tops, even though my size 1 jeans are becoming a little tight. So I didn't know how it happened.

Anyways, I just discovered that I've crossed my panic-if-you-get-to-this-weight! weight. Today the scales read 140Ibs. I screamed.
140Ibs might look small, but a couple of years ago it looked so far off. My friends are not helping matters either. My closest friend in school says I need to gain weight, my girlfriends say otherwise, some say I'm ok. the scales insist that I'm 140 Ibs.
I hereby declare that I'm on going on the diet! the thought is laughable, even to me!

you guys wanna share yours?

Breast Ironing

There is considerable publicity about the practice of Female Genital Mutilation, but I dont know why this despicable practice has not received more attention. Then again, maybe it has and I've just been living under a rock.

Breast Ironing is a common practice in Cameroun and some other countries in Central/Western Africa as part of (if not the only form of) sexual education. It is done in order to discourage early sexual behaviour in young girls.

Pretty much the belief is that when a young girl starts to grow breasts, this will attract men to her and she would start having sex. So in order to discourage men from preying on their daughters, the mothers iron the breasts of the girl, as young as 9 years old!

A stone is placed close to a fire, and when it is hot enough, it is used to mold the breasts down. I shudder just at the thought of it. The woman in the video proudly announces that she does it to her daughter two times a day!, and that her mother did it to her also.

I am mortified at the approach to problems like this. The solution to unwanted sexual advances in the form of rape or unwanted pregnancy is to punish the female child? Her breasts have to be molded so that men would not want to have sex with her? for real? As far as I'm aware, nobody is going around ironing penises!

Same thing with the stupid Nudity bill. So because women are being raped the solution is not in harsher punishment for perpetrators, but dictating what women can and cannot wear? anyways I'm digressing.

The breasts of these innocent girls undoubtedly end up being deformed. Nobody thinks of what will happen when these girls finally need their breasts. I especially cringed when one of the victims was shyly explaining that her left breast is deformed as a result of this practice- even though she quickly adds that it is only one side.

"According to UNFPA, breast ironing exposes girls to numerous health problems such as abscesses, infections, dissymmetry of the breasts, cysts, and even the complete disappearance of one or both breasts." 1

I am still in total shock after watching the video, and as such I am taking an extra 30 minutes to appreciate my breasts.

Obama-Palin 2008

These are two people that rose from obscurity to become the superstars of this year's election- albeit for different reasons. I remember watching Barack Obama's speech at the DNC in 2004, my uncle was particularly excited about the speech. me? I couldn't care less. I didn't know him.

2008, its a different ball game entirely. I am particularly excited about Obama because he is a strong example that you can make it- and big too!. He proves that your skin color should not be a deterent as long as you know your stuff. Plus, Obama is a real first generation African American. The son of a Kenyan immigrant and a white woman. at the risk of sounding politically incorrect, he gives me hope that if I had a child by a white dude, my child can become the president of America, isn't that cool?
He also proves that I dont have to name the son John, Bill or Sean, if I name him *Oluwatobilobalatifiyinatogofun *Dideoluwakusidedeomoarayeeyipada Peterson, it wouldn't stop his rise to prominence either.

He however does prove that for Oluwatobilobalatifiyin to get to the top, he has to be sound on every side. He's going to be a goldfish in a glass bowl, and his every action is going to be put under scrutiny. He would have to go to the best schools on scholarship of course, graduate Summa Cum Laude, hang around with great people, be involved extracurricularly, and carefully scrutinize his friends. And of course Oluwatobiloba can't afford to be associated with the so-called "awon boys" cos it might come up later on during his political career that he pallies around with yahooze boys.

I'm also excited for this woman because she has proven that a woman could shatter the glass ceiling(lets not go into how) and also rise to rub shoulders with her male counterparts in high offices. However, she has to know her stuff cold. There's no room to be mediocre or just skit through because you'll be put under the microscope too.

And of course you can be personable and woo people with your feminine graces, but there has to be something more to it. As you draw people in with your charisma and feminine charms, you have to be able to keep them drawn to you with your brains as well.

which is something that HRC has been able to do, and though she's not on the ticket this year, I'm also proud of HRC. She not only shattered the glass ceiling, she reduced the glass fragments to finely ground dust.

Now I'm waiting for the time when the next African/ African american woman with the brains of Obama and the poise of HRC would emerge. Hundreds of Thousands willl gather to hear her speak about Foreign policy health and the Economy. While they are at it, many more would take fashion cues from her neatly cut skirt suits and amazing hair.

The Washington Post would write about her amazing plan to fix medicare once and for all, while Vogue would write about her keen sense of fashion. Essence would write about how she manages to always pull off sleek hair even though she has African hair, the Fitness mags would follow her to get her fitness routine and .....

can I dream?

why I was depressed for a hot minute

I dont know why I feel like I owe you guys an explanation (its beginning to feel like our life, instead of my life!) so here goes: As most people would have guessed, my last post has to do with school and is kinda connected to my "perfect" rant.

Specifically, it had to do with an undesirable grade - A "B".

I'm used to getting As, not because I'm entitled to it, but because I actually work for it. Throughout my undergrad years, I think I got like 4 Bs, and I ranted and raved like no other. my only compensation was....

Anyways, I got a B in a class that I desperately hoped, worked, studied and prayed my ass off for. I guess I wouldn't have felt so bad if I didn't put in much effort. herein lies my problem.

I've had courses where I put in my maximal best effort, only to end up with a B. I've also had courses where I either didn't put in much or I didn't understand the material as well, and I still got a B.

It is beginning to look like my effort doesnt even matter

The most fustrating ones are the Bs that are 2-3 points shy of an "A" - which is what sent me spiralling down that depressing path from my last post. A "C" wouldn't even have had this much of an effect on me!

Anyways, Whenever there's a problem, you have to face it head on, and attack it.

1. the first step is: Acknowledging that there is a problem.
Now I'm past the denial stage, I think I have a problem. Actually, I think I have ADHD (really, this is not funny). seriously, Dr. Naaps, will you write me a prescription for Aderall if I ask nicely?

2. the next step is: Seek help.
there are two types of help
a. spiritual help: Actually, one of my friends jokingly said I need prayer. Now that I think about it, I really think I need prayers. I was at the Festival of life (naija peeps know it as Holy Ghost service) and pastor Adeboye said we should raise our scarfs, handkerhiefs so that he can pray on it, I think I'll be needing mines for my exams from henceforth!

b. professional help: So I went to see one of the professional somebodys in my school that you go see when you have academic trouble. when I told her my case, she started laughing (schew! like it was funny). Anyways, I have an appointment to go see her this week cos i need to know what I'm doing wrong.

unfortunately my school schedule doesn't allow for time to be depressed as I have two exams in quick succession. I was going to postpone my depression till after my exams, but I have decided against it, since I just remembered that my pastor said we should pray against depression (he actually said it like 3 or 4 different sundays). Plus, I dont want to claim any bad things.

thanks for all your uplifting comments, the only cure for me now is to see those "As" rolling in! or maybe I should just accept my diagnosis of ADHD and stop raising my hopes?

I am friggin depressed...

I was supposed to write a post about something else, until this...

I seriously am about to stop trying.

I want to go home and cry into my pillow, instead I have to stay in school and put on a fake smile and pretend that I'm ok because I know I'm not going to get any studying done at home.

I lost my job because of facebook

I hate to sound like some old mama, but I remember the facebook of old.
It was just for college students in America who wanted a place to communicate outside of class. It was a rare privilege if your school was on, and you had to sign on with ur school email address.
Facebook then was used to communicate about assignments, tests, get textbooks, and of course social events happening on campus.

Very soon, a lot of colleges joined and facebook was extended to jand. You can imagine the beef that followed between jand students and yankee students.

Then facebook became open to high school students. I seriously think this was the beginning of the end for facebook. All the kids that had colonized myspace (which I refused to join) began an en-masse exodus onto facebook.

The straw that broke the camel's back was when facebook became open to the public. You didn't even need a school id to log on. Every and anybody could log on. This was a plus and a minus. Our long lost friends in naija and all over could log on, then again so could our enemies and those that had no business being on there.

Facebook that used to be the students' getaway- the ideal escape- became what u needed to escape from. First, our teachers started having facebook accounts. There was no escape from the authorities again.

A lot of employers now admit that they check prospective employees' facebook accounts before hiring them. That means that all your prospective employers might have seen your drunken party pictures, and some might just have denied you employment because of it.

As if medical school is not competitive enough, admission committees now admit that they also check facebook and almost 30% of them admit that facebook profiles and pictures have some weight in their admission decisions. (sting, NDQ and co, hope you've cleaned up your fb lives?)

I have heard about a girl who got suspended from the choir because somebody showed her pastor a picture of her at a club in some not-so-flattering outfits.

I personally know about a couple of my friends whose parents are on facebook! ewwwwwww!

Truth is, since facebook was sold, it has just become another marketing ploy and that haven of escape it was has been "discovered" by the other side.
Also, I've always wondered why bloggers are on facebook as their blog identities. does it make sense? can somebody help me out?

When facebook was sold, I posted something on my then blog. It was hilarious at first, but now there is a great chance that it could be true:

7 Reasons Why The Facebook is a Government Tracking Site:

1. The Facebook asks for every bit of your personal information including your phone number, spring break plans, and summer activities, so they can locate you for questioning if you've done some dirt.

2. The Facebook has stepped their game up, and have begun to inquire about your facebook friends, they want to know how you've met them and when. And If you say you don't know them, they ask you to "remove" them from your friends list.

3. The Facebook wants to know what your favorite books and quotes are, just to check and see if you are being influenced by "radicals" or "terrorists".

4. You can now upload unlimited "MUG SHOTS", oops, I meant to say pictures, so that the government knows every single physical description of you.

5. The Facebook has even created a "social timeline" of your activities for evidence in court, now that's gangsta.

6. The Facebook logs all of the groups you participate in, be careful, you may be mingling with "radicals" or "terrorists".

7. The "CIA", oops, I meant to say the Facebook staff, has logged every single message you've ever sent. Just be happy it's not connected to the show "CHEATERS".

So after reviewing the evidence, why should we continue to interact with this website... BECAUSE WE ARE TOO NOSEY NOT TO.

If you have any more convincing evidence, feel free to add on...

PS: This is not to villify Facebook, instead it is to put the word out there that while we are having fun with facebook we should be aware that other people have access to our profiles and pictures. So if you wouldn't show it to your employer, admissions committee, pastor, husband or parent, don't put it on facebook.

Happy Birthday!

I almost never write the cliche valentine's day post, 9-11 post or special holiday's post. This time however, I've been looking forward to the Independence day post.

Nigeria would be 48 0r is it 49 years old, and writer s worldwide would write lengthy essays about how little we've achieved in the last 49 years. Sadly they would be right. A fool at 4o they say.... can you imagine a fool at 50?

Recent events in the world however would not allow for Nigeria to continue along the same path of mediocrity for too long. I might be overly optimistic, but I believe there's something in the offing for our dear motherland.

First, the world has become a global village. What this means is that we can't afford to live in our little bubble for too long, even if we wanted to.

Just a couple of months ago, everyone watched the spectacle that was the Beijing olympics. The Chinese left not a single doubt in the minds of everybody worldwide that they have become a contending force and they are here to say.
Wasn't it too long ago that China was considered an underdeveloped country. Right now, they are fast-tracking to the position of Developed, and I sure say they deserve it.
China gave America a run for their money in the olympics, just as they have been doing in Science and Technology. A few years ago, most of the leading scientists involved in ground breaking research in America were Asians. Now China is luring all their scientists back home, building state of the art laboratories for them and paying them as well too. Now no PI can dangle an H1-B visa in front of the nose of a chinese scientist who knows what's in store at home.
The technology they presented at the olympics was fascinating and what's more, they are now ready to make their space launch! (or have completed it by now)

As someone who hasn't been so much into politics, I've certainly been following the American Presidential election. Even though no process is without its flaws, I can't help but draw sharp contrasts with the American electoral process.
Americans know they are not perfect, but they certainly expect someone who is near perfect to be at the helm of the affairs of their country. From the way Hilary Clinton and Barack Obama swung it out in the democratic primaries, I wonder if Yar'adua and Atiku could have put up the same fight. Even more, I wonder if the PDP would let them.

The presidential campaigns also provide a measure of interest(what with the palinmania, calling off campaigns, SNL interviews, deal or no deal...can you blame me?) and for one who cannot vote, I've sure been paying a lot of attention. The main focus of the election now is the Economy and each candidate is scrambling to be seen as the one who can fix it. In 2004, George Bush won because the main issue was national security, post 9-11.
If the process were to be the same in Nigeria, I can bet the issue of the day would be Electricity. I can't help but imagine the possiblity of the PDP candidate and the AD candidate trying to convince Nigerians that they can fix the mess that is NEPA.(it would sure be fun to watch!)

Alas, today is not about China or America. Its about Nigeria. I follow the news in Nigeria on a daily basis, and to some extent I'm cognizant about the general happenings in the country. It seems as if the wind of change that Obama has been championing, that McCain has now hijacked has finally blown its way into Nigeria.
Our once slow Yardy is finally shaking things up and getting rid of the Old boys' network on Aso Rock. Even though our change may not come as sweepingly as it has for our friends in the western world, even though it may not be as selfless as it appears to be, It is still change nonetheless. America didn't get to where it is in 49 years, we'll take baby steps, but I know we'll walk.
There is a reverse brain drain going on in the diaspora right now, its like the Jews going back all over again. Nigerians in the U.K and America are returning home to put their skills to use - and u know we Nigerians gat mad skillz! Its even hit blogsville, Atutu has returned and so have countless others. Those that haven't are thinking about going back to observe the youth service, in the hopes of going back at a later date.

with all this combined, I see a brighter future for Nigeria, infact I'm overly optimistic about that country. Maybe for the first time in a long time, I'll wear green and white today and show my solidarity. (ok, I lied about that last bit)

so much for being perfect (I'm prolly going to delete this when I get my brains back)

there is a grave danger when you've been brought up to aim for perfect all the time.
the perfect daughter
the perfect student
the perfect friend
the perfect girlfriend....even the perfect enemy.

sure, you perfect the act, but you evolve into the perfect monster.

see, after a while, you do all the great daugherly things, come first in class, don't spill your friend's secrets and you're every man's dream girlfriend

you would think that everyone would be happy with you? and sure they are, but the standards become so high and you can't keep up anymore.
You have to will yourself to keep up with the ever increasing standards... and you keep trying and trying and you're just not there yet.

maybe you'll never be.

Its not just enough to get an A anymore, you have to get the highest grade, and even if you get the highest grade, why didn't u get a perfect score?

you can't afford one slip up, you're doomed. at that one slip, all your perfect record is marred...forever.

some children have raised their voices at their parents countless times, but your silent "No" constitutes a rebellion.

and when you can't be there for a friend for her one birthday, you're a bad friend, the other people who only call on the birthday are better.

and you kissed a guy who's not your boyfriend? you're a slut!, those that slept with others, well, they only did it cos he cheated on them, its ok.

God forbid you miss church one day, heck! you're going straight to Hell!

you can never learn from your mistakes, cos you're not even supposed to make them to start with.

I want to tell my mom to shut up!

I want to fail an exam and not feel bad about it

I want to tell my pastor to mind his business

I want to have a one nigh random shag

I want to tell my friends to stop bothering me

I want to gain 25 pounds

I just want to be mediocre for once and not feel guilty about it...

I'm so mad right now....

Today I decided to cook moi-moi. I haven't made it in months, and so I was craving it.
I went to the grocery store yesterday, and bought all my ingredients, I even soaked the beans overnight.
This morning, I woke up and before i ate breakfast, I peeled the beans, and soaked it while I went to study.
If you know anything about cooking, you'll know that moi-moi takes a lot of time. almost 3 hours to make.

I did everything I usually do, infact it was an elemi-meje (7 lives), meaning 7 different kinds of condiments inside. I had crayfish, egg, cornbeef inside!

however I decided to try something different.

Instead of using my foil wraps, I decided to use paper cups like I saw someone do at a party I went for recently.

my mistake!

My two big pots of moi-moi, 16 wraps, all gone!

the cups split down the middle. wait for it- just at the time it was getting done!

I'm so freaking M-A-D!

16 wraps, 2 hours worth of work, down the drain.

I had planned to watch the presidential debate while sipping on garri with moi-moi on the side. I'm still going to go on as planned the new set should be ready in time.

Luckily, I didnt use all the beans I blended, so I was able to make some more with my good old dependable foil paper. I'm definitely not giving anybody out of this one!

Releasing your inner stripper...

...while keeping fit.

this past weekend, I attended an exotic dance fitness class. The experience was beautiful to say the least.

About 25 women, ages ranging from 18 - 4o, together in one room with one goal in mind...I think.

All united in our efforts to perfect- or attempt- the booty clap, sexy push-up and the crazy cycling.

chest to the ground, booties in the air, legs held high in the air, we toned up those hamstrings, biceps, quadriceps and glut muscles.

....there was even cardio too!

Minutes later, we donned our high heels- stripper heels in some cases- and worked the chair while doing a sexy chair routine we learnt in 10 minutes.
I think those moves would come in useful for a lap dance.

We put all the moves we learnt to use... I never knew working out in heels could be so much fun...It felt great, but my inner thighs and abs are still burning!

I'm definitely going back again!... I think Fitness pole dance might be next...

Give me my blog back dammit!

I don't know what to write.

This is a first for me, because I always have stuff dancing about in my head that I can't pick and choose from.

A lot of times I go through my previous posts and I've noticed a change in the direction of the posts.

I've said to myself that I won't write about school an write about other cool stuff, but truth is school is 95% of my time. If I'm not in school, I'm at home studying for an exam. Every other "fun" stuff I do is planned around this. And before you start thinking "efikko" or anything else, I just have to do this in order to stay afloat. Infact, I feel a whole lot less smarter than I have felt in years!

see, I've been used to not studying and doing so great. All through growing up, nobody ever said " Go read your books!". I even had a fight with one of my cousins who I was staying with in college back in Nigeria, for saying those words to me. Funny thing is that my dad backed me up. I'm used to studying the night before the test and getting the highest score. This is not to say that I never studied, but reading was fun for me, it wasn't a chore. I never had to schedule study time.

I've never had to work so hard and expect such mediocre results. I guess I believe that if I put in this much effort, I should be firmly sitting on top of the class. I should be averaging 90% and above, and not hovering around 81%.

Anyways, when I first started this blog, the purpose was to have an escape route from school. Somewhere to run to keep my sanity. Then, I didn't have this many readers. I didn't even know any blogger except exschoolnerd whom was instrumental in my moving to blogger.

I have discovered so many new blogs that I feel like I'm losing myself. I never used to worry about how many people read my blog, if I was first to comment on someone's blog, how many comments I got, whose blogs I read, how often I posted those type of things. I feel like you bloggers have invaded my "home" and I'm becoming "changed". I feel like my posts no longer have the kind of spontaneity that they used to. My posts might appeal to a lot more readers but they no longer appeal to me.

I really truly appreciate you guys. you have no idea! I really love reading your comments and I actually look forward to them. I take little breaks to read your posts and I follow the events of your lives through your blogs. I just feel like you guys have hijacked my blog from me. gimme my blog back dammit! its mine!!!

Its kind of like being on a reality show because of some characteristics that you have, and then the reality show ends up changing you. You still have your fans but you gradually stop becoming a fan of yourself. There has to be some happy medium somewhere and I'm going to find it.

*now that i got that out of the way*

1. I narrowly escaped being killed in my own house - ok, maybe not killed but injured
2. I'm decorating! I think I've watched too much style tv and HGTV. I might post pictures on my style blog later. email me for an invite if you live in Nigeria or UK and want to see

I'l blog about these later

spinoff of What's in a Name III?

so it seems like the overwhelming majority of bloggers like the name bumight better. I must confess I like it better myself, but bumtight was beginning to grow on me.

Among some of the comments I got from my last post, there were two very striking ones:

and these comments got me thinking: what exactly is my blog personality like. what do my readers think of when they read my blog? What kind of a person do you think I am? Actually what blog personality are they (naijalines and sting) talking about?

so pipo, help a sister out:

what exactly is my blog personality?

What's in a Name III

So most people would have realized by now the name change. I'm not really feeling the bumight name anymore. I like Bumtight. I don't know why some people are complaining, because when I had it as bumight, a lot of people thought it was bumtight.

so does this mean I have a tight bum? of course I do! a cute tight one, you should see it, lol!, but that's not the reasaon for the name change.

My blogging frequency is about to take a major nose dive. I don't spend a lot of time blog-hopping anymore since I got google reader, but I will be preparing to write my boards in a few months (real scary sturves) and I'm beginning to think spending so much time on blogger is not a great idea.
don't worry, I'm not leaving cos I'll still write, I'll also read your blogs between study breaks. I read all your blogs by the way, even if I don't comment as often.

so Bumight or Bumtight?

feel free to vote on the left panel this time.

PS: I initially wrote this post in ink, just to spite Vera, but at the last minute, I changed my mind and typed it out. she's scary, you know!

Almost doesn't count II - I once met a guy...

Excuse me my lady
Tell me what’s your name
I go crazy when I see you walking down the street
Can’t you see I’m crazy
Everyone else can see
That my baby I’m crazy over you
- Daniel Wilson

caution: I strongly suggest you read Almost doesn't count before you proceed.

I always maintain that the ninth wonder of the world is the Internet- comes right behind Google. Technically Google is part of the internet... I digress. The internet has made the world a global village, there are so many things you could do on the 'net: online shopping, read books, and Meet people.

I have met quite a variety of people through this wonderful medium. At said times, I was a regular jobless college student and online forums were an integral part of my life

The Knight in boring Amour. aka McBoring
I met McBoring through hi5, when hi5 was still cool. He sent me a message because I was from the same state or something random like that. I went through his profile and discovered that he was a graduate student in my school. We had been talking back and forth for a while and I found out that he knew some of my friends. This was close to spring break and I didnt have anything planned for spring break till later in the week. He asked me if I wanted to come hang out with him and I replied in the affirmative. When he came to pick me up, he spent about 5 mins goshing ove how I looked-in an uncool way. "omigosh, you're even prettier in person....I like your hair...can I touch it..."
Don't be mistaken, I like compliments and I live for attention, but this one was so not cool. I don't know how else to put it. Then we started talking and I told him I play chess.

my number one mistake.

We went to his place and dude brought out his chess set. We played chess for about 4 times. He won every single round. When he was bored with playing chess. He brought out more CHESS puzzles and we started doing it.
After like an hour, I told him I wanted to go home. He brought me back to my dorm and was already talking about how he wanted us to be serious.... oginni?
He reminded me so much of Brainy Brian.
PS: I dont have anything against nerdy guys, infact I consider myself a nerd as well, but where are the COOL NERDS? Where’s the mind stimulating conversation?

McRandy
I met him through one text message site like that. He sent me a text saying something like he could tell that I was naija- from a naija brother in the area. I can’t remember what was said, but the conversation got on to yahoo chat.

He asked for my number and I gave him my dorm number. We talked on the phone for quite a while and I finally agreed to meet him 9 months later.

As opposed to Knight, he was very worldly wise and knew what he wanted from the get go. He couldn't even lie.

He wanted sex.

I think I was smart enough to realize that that might be the only thing he wanted. Problem was, I liked the chase. This was the first time that anybody had actively chased me that way. I guess it’s because I’m used to guys saying “I love you” because they want to get into your pants and this was a guy who was real with it.
I guess it must have been the thrill of the chase; he actively stopped chasing after 2-3 years. He still calls me like every few months to pick up the chase where he left off.

Now, he’s like “I want to marry you”. Brother please!

Twinnie
I hate to put twinnie in here with the dogs, but I met him the same way I met McRandy- through the same site. He sent me a text message, and we started talking. Later on, I found out that we're birthday mates. He had just gotten into the country then, so he had no friends.

We talked for almost a year before we finally drifted apart.
I got to meet him for the first time this year, after talking to him for 3+ years.

He never said anything improper, we were just fast friends. I call him at least once a year- on our birthdays.

McDaddy
I really don’t know how I started talking to McDaddy. We’ll call him McDaddy cos he was waaaay older than me in so many regards- obviously in age. I think I met him on hi5 too (I’m starting to see a pattern here). He sent me a message cos he saw some of my modeling pictures and wanted me to be part of something he was organizing. We started emailing back and forth about the project and then progressed to talking.
Amongst a lot of things, we talked about religion pretty often- He was a self-professed aethist, and he made no beans about it. Gradually we went from spending minutes talking to hours on the phone.

Apparently, he had started to “catch feelings” (don’t blame me! J ) He told me not in the I-have-feelings-for-you-and-want-to-date-you way, it was more like fyi-i-have-developed-feelings-for-you-just-so-you-know way. In short sha, we became close and he would tell me stuff, almost like he was looking for advice (I’m the young one, remember?). Anyways we drifted apart. I think I let it happen when he admitted to having a fiancée of 6+ years and he told me he was thinking about breaking up with her. Alakoba! If you break up with your fiancée, I’m not going to date you!

We met in person once- with an appointed chaperone (I made my friend come with me) and that was it. Anyways, now we just talk like once in a very very blue moon.

I aint no Casanova
I aint no Romeo
I don’t smoke marijuana
I love you so
The only thing I plead
Is my loving you
And my baby I’m crazy over you
-Daniel Wilson

The Circle of Life

cast of Lion king. photo courtesy broadway.com

you've probably seen the disney movie, who hasnt?, but if you've not seen the broadway performance then me thinks that experience isn't complete.

I had the fortune of seeing the live broadway performance yesterday (thanks boo!) and I'm still reeling from the experience.

I hve always wondered how they would get humans to act like animals. That was the reason why I was never keen on seeing it, but when everybody started raving about it, I started getting curious.

First, I must say they really pulled it off. Some of the costumes were so on point, and they managed to find a good middle ground between man and animal. The lady that played Nala, Dany'elle Williamson had such graceful moves, it was easy to forget that she was human and not feline. Young Simba and Nala, played by Nicholas Ashe and Sade LouAnn Murray respectively were equally as good, especially since they were only 11 years old.

My best character in the whole production was Rafiki, played by Phindile Mkhize. She totally blew me away and gave me goosebumps every time she opened her mouth!

If at any time I was in doubt South Africans have perfected the art of singing with the same expertise that the East Africans have perfected long distance running and their West African brothers football, my doubts were laid to rest yesterday. Too bad there's no singing sport in the olympics because I'm sure the South Africans would have won gold, silver and bronze!. Most of the ensemble (if not all) were South Africans and they actualy kilt it! There was a scene where they performed without any instruments and their voices sent shivers down my spine! of course Rafiki had to be South African, because there was no way they could get away with anybody else playing that part.

There was also this scene where some dancers were in flesh colored body suit (at least I want to believe so). The lead guy had such a firm butt! damn!...ok, I know I'm going off topic here, but I had to mention that butt (no pun intended)

I don't know how my boyfriend managed to get the tickets, cos the production was sold out before the cast even came to town. thanks darl! My next stop is the broadway production of The color purple or Rent.

Before I leave

With my passport safely in my mother’s wardrobe, under her “isale-apoti”, I was holding the last document I needed to make my dreams come true – my one way ticket to America.
I had looked forward to, dreamt, and even tasted this day for the past 3 months. The only thing I would be truly missing was my boyfriend, Wale.
Not that I wouldn’t be missing my parents, but my relationship was barely 4 months old, and like most foolish 21 year olds, that was what mattered most to me.

I tucked the most precious piece of paper into the crevices of my purse, and secured it underneath my arm. No way was I going to let an area-boy snatch my dreams at the last inopportune minute.

“Mushin Oloosha, one more chance!”

That was the last prompting I needed, before I jumped on the bus that was going to take me into the waiting arms of my Romeo. My flight was scheduled to leave at 11.45pm tonight, and if I was ever going to get a chance to say a proper goodbye to Wale, now was the time to do it. The trip to the travel agent had been relatively short, and I had made it out by 12.15pm. I had at least three hours to burn.

There would be no romantic goodbyes at the airport. No shedding of tears as I hugged him tight and refuse to let go. There would be no last minute reaffirmations about how much he loved me, and how he would wait for me. He wouldn’t be there to wave at my plane as it took off – because my parents didn’t know I had a boyfriend. Instead I would be at the airport with my entire family and listen to little know-the-daughter-of-whom-you-are speeches, as eloquently rendered by my father.

“Iyana-Itire!”

“o wa o!”, I shouted in response to the conductor, and alighted from the bus.

I walked the five minute walk from the bus stop to his house deep in thought. I knew Wale was waiting for me. I didn’t need to call him to confirm, I didn’t have a phone on me anyways.

I opened their gate with the know-how that anyone who was a regular visitor to the house would possess. They always left the padlock to the gate outside, so once you let yourself in, you opened the pedestrian gate, replaced the lock and closed the gate from inside. I had made roughly ten trips to number 8, Ijeshatedo street, Iyana Itire, Mushin, and so I would know.

Wale and his housemate were watching a movie when I came in. As soon as he saw me, he rose up to hug me and in the same instant his housemate disappeared. We did all the last minute catching up and small talk before Wale took my hand and became serious.

“Shalewa, so what time did you say you’re leaving”

“11:45pm, this night”

“so this is the last time I’m seeing you right?”

“you can say so” I replied trying to make light of the situation even though I knew where this was going.

“Shalewa, you know how I feel about you, and you know that I’m going to wait for you. As far as I’m concerned you’re my wife”

There he goes again with this whole wife thingy, the thought of that alone gives me shivers. Not that I didnt want to be his wife, I just hated the thought of marriage at my age.

“Shalewa, you have to promise me that you won’t disappoint me when you get over there” he said, interrupting my thoughts.

“of course Wale, I won’t betray you, I’ve told you that a dozen times already”

“In that case, lets make a pact, a covenant”

I jerked, and sat up in that instant. “Wale, where did all this one come from, I’m not making any stupid covenant o”

“I’m not asking you to do anything bad, I just want us to swear on the Bible that we would keep ourselves pure for each other”

Now he had me pinned to the wall. If I didn’t make this “pact” he would be convinced that I had other plans.

“Alright, bring the Bible”

Wale brought out a white bible on which we both swore to be faithful to each other.

“Now, we have to seal it by making love” he announced after we were done with the pact.

“you didn’t tell me that one before Wale” I protested, although I sounded feeble even to my own ears.

“The pact would not be complete if we don’t do it, besides you’re travelling and only God knows when next I’m going to see you again” he persuaded “Moreover, remember that we have just promised to remain faithful to one another, I’m not going to do this again for a very long time, and you’re leaving this night”

“but Wale…”

The rest of my sentence was lost as he placed his mouth on mine.

‘Shalewa now, we just made a pact with the Bible, as far as everything goes, we are already married….”

And so on the rug right in front of the television at number 8 Ijeshatedo street, Iyana-Itire, Mushin, Wale claimed my virginity.

P.S: Characters in this text are purely fictional. Any semblance to any real life persons is co-incidental and regretted.

The man, the son and the donkey

Good news first, my internet is up and running, and my lappie is back!
I was going to take my time with the questions, but taking time with 30 people's questions will be no mean feat, especially since because I said you have a maximum of 3 questions, everyone felt they had to ask 3 questions each! that's over 60 questions! e fe pa ketekete ni?[1] lol!

Zephi, because you're my aburo, I'll pick your three questions that are not redundant, the rest of your questions were asked by other bloggers so here goes :
1. what is your name? government one..on your birth certificate: Titilayo -that is one name that only exists on my birth certificate. you should have asked for the one on my passport :)
2. what is you favorite sexual position: The Chediak-Higashi....allow your mind.

3. have you had an orgasm?: duh! of course!

Oluwadee wanted to know:
What sec/high school did you go to? Not a boring question. quite a complicated one for me actually. I was one of those
unfortunate
lucky children who went to three different high schools. I claim whichever one depending on the circumstance/stakes involved. For this purpose, I attended one of the very, if not most, famous girl schools in Nigeria....and no, I'm not a QC babe. For extra measure, the school is in Ibadan.

Shonavixen, a previously undercover reader asked:
What is the craziest thing you would do for love or money?
for the record, I hate these kind of questions: too much brain cells involved! Anyways, it depends. For money, I do not know. I have a decent helping of pride so I really can't say.
for love? don't we all do crazy things for love?
Do prison buses have emergency exits? lmao..silly question
now I like these kind of questions! when I googled it, here's what I got:
Prison buses have an emergency back hatch release but can only be released from the outside. These buses have two escorts one in front and one in back in case of emergencies. There are plenty of law enforcement officers to come to the aide if need be.
Who did you want to be when you were a child?
who or what? when i was a child, I wanted to be a teacher, and Iwas very determined, if I can say so myself. My dad bought me a blackboard and I would gather all the kids in the apartment building and teach them long division, phonics, HCF and LCM. I think I had a rethink once I was grown enough to realize that teachers dont really make much!

charizard:
are we allowed to ask personal questions? sure darling!
gng wanted to know:
What do you think of online dating?
I have never dated anyone I met online, but I have met lots of people online who wanted to date me. I didnt date them, not because I met them online, but for different reasons. I have a draft of the whole story, and I'll put up the post for you at a later date. However, I don't think online dating is for me because I dont think I can make the time investment.
•How would you rate your looks on a scale of 1-10? This is the exact reason why students don't grade their own exam papers. To be modest, I'll say I'm in the top half, leave that sef,
I'm too cool for school!

•What is your favourite thing about yourself (physical or otherwise) and why? physically, I'll have to say I love my lips, and I shamelessly show them off with lip gloss :)

standtall was a little hesitant to ask me:
What was growing up like? You may want to talk about that or again,
I've talked about growing up in several of my posts: Then...now, my first time, falling in love all over again, and the like.
what do u think Yar'adua will achieve in the next 1 yr? I don't even know what Yar'adua has achieved in this his first year

Ms O:
What is your fave show on TV right now?
I don't watch TV like that anymore. back in the day it used to be House, M.D

what city do you live in right now?
I live in the medical school building

When did u lose ur virginity...(you r nt one tho)
I don't even know myself, just woke up one morning and i didnt have it!. I didnt bleed my first time. When I was 18.

Jaycee I already knew your questions were going to be hard:
What is the most important thing to you in this world? This one requires a lot of thinking. I think I'll have to say my loved ones, cos I guess my purple patent shoes would not be the best answer!

Where would you go for your honeymoon when u do get married? somewhere where nobody knows me, with a nice honeymoon suite and fabulous room service, prolly with a beach so i ccan fulfil my fantasy of making love on the beach, lol!
Whats ur best historical fact? I had the highest score in Nigeria the month I took my SATs. men, what happened to me?!

efJay how come I'm not too surprised at your questions? lol!
You are seeing someone rite? Yes

How long has it been since u've been 2gether? 4 years, give or take

Do u see urself marrying him, soon? I honestly dont know. When we get to that bridge, we'll cross it.

Nine, the curious mind:
1)Your favourite song of all time? Flying Without Wings

2)How ticklish are you? very

3)How old were you when you first had "the talk" with your maternal unit?I believe I can safely assume that your paternal unit had no part of that:) the earliest I recall, since I was 9/10 when she found the christmas card I bought for the son of my gaurdian that I had a crush on. However she had been hinting at it since she had "the talk" with my sister. I guess I was 7 years old then, cos I remember it was before I went away to boarding school.

dat okrika girl...xyz
Did you always want to go to medical school? yes, since the day I decided that I didnt want to be a teacher anymore.

Do you drink? socially, which is more like when I go clubbing. no more than one glass at a party or one bottle of smirnoff ice.
What did you google today? SCD

would you ever marry a non naija dude? very interesting story. First, I would need to tie down my parents to pull such a stunt. I love me my naija men and it would take a lot for me to find my self so attracted to a non naija dude that I would consider marrying him. Plus, I'm such a naija babe that I would hate to be separated from my culture. Maybe if I meet a non-naija dude who is totally naija at heart..... allow me to dream on!
I'm just coming to the realization that I can date a non naija dude, but marriage is a whole different kettle of fish altogether!

Aphrodite kept it simple
How do you od the slash over word thing(like cancelling)?
you type del in this kind of bracket <>
then you type in the word u want to slash

then into the brackets you type in /del

Are you yoruba or Ibo? Yoruba

which male celebrity got married that really pissed you off? I really dont care about celebrity marriages, but the 'hookup' that still pisses me off is Brangelina. I like Angelina jolie as a person but I dont like the way she 'stole' Brad pitt and Jenny got the short end of the stick. Well, technically they aren't married but they still piss me off.

do you wear panties to bed? of course!

Hairspray or haircream?Hairspray anyday! haircream wears your hair down and attracts dirt. However, when I braid hair, I use haircream while braiding, and subsequently follow up with hairspray for the duration of the style.

naijaleta: your questions mde me smile actually,
In one of your comments on my blog, you said you were far from a size 10. Does that mean bigger or smaller than a size 10? That's my only question. Smaller. I have a feeling however that the origin of this question is not unconnected to my gym post.
Actually my next question is a follow up on the first. What is your dress size? This is the singular reason that I don't buy clothes out of a catalogue. It never fits because my 'size' depends on whose clothes I'm wearing. I'm between a dress size 4/6 depending on the designer. I wear a jeans size 3. so should I be looking in the mail for a package? *wink*

kayshawn:
Okay, here's my question. You've read my blog and possibly had an insight into my personality so do you think I'm the kind of guy you'll like when we meet.
I believe there's more to a blogger apart from what the person posts on their blogs. The comments they leave on other blogs, whose blogs they comment on, and those kind of things tell you more about a plogger than his/her posts. That being said, I don't think I'll like your blog personality for the same reason I don't like Dr. phil. However, if we were to meet, I think we'll have loads to talk about. I enjoy picking at people's brains!
vera:
1. How old are you? I mentioned it once on my blog, go do the research :)
2. How tall are you? I love to claim 5' 7"
3. What is one secret fantasy you would otherwise never tell anyone? If I told you, it wont be a secret fantasy again. so my former secret fantasy was making love on the beach. Now I have to look for another secret fantasy that I would never tell anyone!
Ms Sula: I think I'm actually a semi-undercover reader of her blog myself,
1. Where in Nigeria are you from? Osun state
2. What do you want to specialize in and why? A lot of first years dont know what they want to specialize in. heck! a couple of fourth years dontknow. I'm not sure myself. I think I want to be an Oncologist. you know, these days, everyone is getting cancer. Actually, I did cancer research in undergrad and I got to work closely with an oncologist for a while. plus the oncology program is now combined with heme, which I also like. So if everything stays the same, I'll say heme/onc.
3. What's your favorite shopping store? Any shop where I can get tops and dresses at reasonable prices is it for me. Right now, its a little store near my house. half my current wardrobe comes from there.

30+
1. What are your vital statistics: 34-28-36
2. What happened to the Jesus blog / giving me access to it: The Jesus blog is still alive and well, it doesnt show up on my profile anymore. When I was little, I used to write letters to Jesus instead of praying and then put it in an envelope. I felt that that way it was more personal and direct than repeating the same words in the format that people usually prayed. The Jesus blog is kinda like the same thing. pretty much my prayers.
I was going to give you access to it before and that's why I asked for ur email. Then I had a rethink cos its just too personal. hope u understand shey? the contents are along the lines of " dear Jesus, can you believe what happened to me today? xxxx, and can you make my boobs grow bigger..."
3. Your favourite food / drink : I would need a whole post to do this one. my favorite naija food is pounded yam and vegetable soup. At restaurants, I only order the same thing. currently I'm crushing on McNuggets!

Femi b yet again undercover,
prolife or prochoice? I'd say I'm prochoice, cos I believe everybody should have the right to make the right and best choice for themselves. I don't believe in the government making such choices on what I do with my body.

Tininu, I'm only answering your first three questions because if you, oluwadee and kay-shawn were in the same class, and you all needed 75% to pass an examination. Oluwadee gets 98% and kayshawn gets 95% and you get 68%. can you tell your teacher to add 4% from oluwadee's scores and the remaining 3% from kay-shawn, so that u can get the 75% ?
-my point exactly love!
