One of my greatest issues with loving someone is the vulnerability of it all. Of course there's the puppy love you share with your high school boyfriend- the infatuation, the hormones.
Real love is work.
Knowing someone's deepest darkest secrets and still choosing to love them. Knowing their faults or vices and still being there. It's unnerving.
Maybe that's why God spent so many months drilling into me how much He loves me- and it's an ongoing lesson. Sometimes I find it hard to believe. I do the things I'm deeply ashamed of and He still says He loves me and I'm like "Dude, you gotta be kidding!"
It's unnerving.
That someone who doesn't need anything from you loves you that much. He knows all your secrets and still loves you? Amazing stuff! At times I try to test the boundaries of it, I'll recall some horrible thing I did and ask, you sure you still love me?
It's Humbling.
And when I finally let myself settle into it, it makes me giddy with excitement. I want to run around and scream "He loves ME!"bumbling, fumbling, messy, awkward ME!
It raises the bar.
Makes you walk around with your shoulders held a little higher. Like "if you knew who's in love with me, you wouldn't come at me like that" spring in your step.
It's totally redefined Love for me.
