for Ashley Billasano

Today, iRead about te story of Ashley who committed suicide and tweeted about her story. Her twitter account was subsequently deleted.
I feel very bad when I hear people talk about why nobody stopped them, the warning signs were there...
Let's see: so smeone sees her tweets, calls the suicide hotline, they come and give her the "help" that she needs which would involve taking her away from her family and everything she is familiar with.
Sometimes people do not see a way out, but is suicide really the way out?
As a christian, you know that suicide is a sin, and as a NIGERIAN christian, you KNOW that would earn you a ticket to a
place where you can't say "my bad" and get out.
If you say anything, you're told you have enough faith, you didnt pray hard enough.
And you can't turn back the hands of time, and change what happened, because what went wrong was because you had TOO much faith. So you're forced to keep living a lie cos you're damned if you do, and yu're damned if you do not.
Because the past doesn't matter, the current I'd a hell hole and the future...
Suicide is not the way out.
The best bet, make sure that the past does not happen in the first place,
Yes, you can tell I've felt like anna before...

This sucks... Life blows...

Rest in peace Ashley, rest in Peace...

Geromino PRFA

Today has been one of the craziest days of my life, culminating one of the busiest weeks as well. I use the term "busy" quite lightly, because I have been being a weist for the past 2 months! as in, wake up,....sleep.....spider solitaire.....tv.... ok, you get the drift now.

Graduation is this weekend, so the parentals are in town. I'm excited to see my parents and all, but kinda uneasy since they will be spending one month with me. yes, you heard right ONE MONTH! as in 4 weeks!! o well, we'll try not to kill ourselves before its over. First of all, I had to "mummy proof" my house. you know, take away all the things I dont want them seeing- hide yo lube, hide yo toys, and hide yo lovenotes too cos they searching everything in here! (ok, not saying i have all those things o, but it sounded kinda cute, lol)

I got lost on my way to the airport, GPS was acting up, drove around for almost 30 mins - (and you know gas is now $4.00 too damn high to be getting lost, and finally made it to the airport 2 hours after their flight touched down. O well, that was all good since they just made it past customs and had been waiting for like all of 5 minutes! and speaking of customs, those bammas seized my Kilishi and dubunoma!!!!!! *insert wailing with the ugly face* Yes, I'm all sorts of salty about that!

To make my day spicier, I got lost on the way back from the airport again- this time the GPS was working. Actually, I didnt really get lost, but I had no money for toll, so I made an exit to avoid paying toll, but had to pay 75cents toll anyways- which was all the cash I had on me. Then I got into the right lane and still had to pay toll, but at this time I had no cash left, so i had to break toll (expecting my fine in the mail)

Anyways, the parentals are nicely settled in my room now. so Geromino PRFA (Parents Retrieved From Airport) - operation successful!

PS: for the turtles that wont get the joke, when the US attacked and killed Osama, the codename for the completion of the mission was Geromino EKIA (Enemy Killed in Action)

Bald Eagle

There's something about reading blogposts at 1:00am in the morning, when you dont feel sleepy. Add being semi annonymous to the equation, and you have Bumight blogging about the "bald kitty movement".

So I was reading the SBM blog and I had a lot of questions about his last post- the Bald Kitty Movement.

Personally, I love the bald look, but growing stubble is a very uncomfortable look. So a very low trim is thebest compromise for me but I've heard everyone extol the virtues of a brazillian to high heavens. However, all this praise comes with the warning of the pain involved. Yes, I've never ventured down that path before. I've got a couple of questions for my blogville follks,

1. How painful is that ish?
2. is it worth it?
3. for the guys- how much of a big deal is a bald look for you on a girl?

Yes, consider this Research! :p

PS: Happy Birthday Funms!!!!

Long time no write

I know I havent been on this blog of late, and I've actually been thinking about shutting down my blog. I opened this blog to help me get through med school, and it did just that. However, I'm still on the fence with that decision. In the new year alone, I've had a lot on my plate already: went through the most horrible break up I wouldnt even wish on my enemy, got the long white coat, got a job, had a fight with God, in the process of making up with him, apartment hunting, met an amazing "friend"... and its just April! over the past couple of days I've felt the pull of blogging. Maybe I'll write a little...

Thankful

I can't think of a very crafty or witty title. Today seems like a good time to blog, being new year's day, 1/1/11 and all that serenren.

2010 was a hard year for me, from the beginning up until the very end- financially, relationship wise, spiritually academic wise sef.

2011 is a time for change though- and I'm not saying it just cos everyone is saying it or because its new year's day, I'm very expectant.

In the few hours before the past year ended, I sat down and wrote down everything I wanted in the new year. I took the list to church and those were my prayer points.

Granted there are things that I expect to happen this year, but I've learnt not to take things for granted. All those people who lost their lives in the bomb blast expected to do things in the new year.

I'm thankful for 2010 because I definitely learnt a lot and grew a lot. I labored in 2010, now its time to give birth to all the greatness in 2011!
