Someone called me fat on Sunday (almost insensitive considering who the person is) but I took it as a compliment. Cos if uve been where I was last year, if you saw me last year, you'd be happy I'm fat. You'd tell me to go ahead an burst the scales, lol.
Sometimes people go through stuff and only God knows why he allows certain things to happen in our lives (I really want him to answer that) but you know what, life keeps moving with or without you.
I've had my life spiral away out of control and people who were presumably close say insensitive things to me , all in the name of speaking "the candid truth".
It's like telling someone who lost his house, wife and kids in a tsunami and also lost his job that that's not the end of the world. Of course that's not the end of the world, that's just the end of his world!
I've come full circle from not wanting to wake up every morning to waking up itching to write.
I've come full circle from being to embarrassed to blog, tweet, facebook AND go out in public, that I literally disappeared from the face of the planet.
I've had people say "she's crazy"....and most of these are church folks btw
I've come full circle from contemplating suicide - I'm too chicken to do it, I don't think I ever will.
I've come full circle from searching "painless ways to die", even though my intelligent ass knows that death is never painless.
Now I reached a brand new state of idontgiveafuckedness and anybody can get it at this point(I mean a good tongue lashing u Perverts!)
It's like a brand new person emerging, and I'm taking dr. Sid's yolo personally, lol.
I'm gonna dress up and be happy. I'm gonna tweet about bball wives even though I have deeper issues in life,
Cos when nobody has ever walked in your shoes, all their talking is just noise. I want no sermons on life issues anymore.
And you know what, when you've reached that your happy place, people do notice. And it seems like some people get all mad that you're happy. They start wondering why you're happy, is it that you got a new job, or you have a new boyfriend, where are you getting money from...wuanwuanwuan.... As if someone can't be happy for happy's sake! A lot of transformers will be needing some hugging! sheesh!

So I went and did something potentially stupid?...
Anybody who followed me on twitter in 2010/2011 will tell you how I love to get into people with natural hair. I've been known to tweet "natural hair is not for everybody". Neways, so Princess (Dr) bumight Amarachi went and put a scissors into her hair!
if you know me irl, ihave a problem with trimming the split ends on my relaxed hair...#mmKay.
my hair journey has been turpsy turfy, I had regular hair until one morning, my principal woke up and ordered the whole school (of almost 5000 girls) to cut our hair! that was in JSS2, and I rocked a lowcut till SS3, when I started my ajankolokolo and gradually worked my way to my shoulder length hair- until something possessed me to cut my hair in 2008. I have never admired people with short hair, I lied with short hair against my will for 6 years.
My hair when i cut it in 2008
Neways, my hair had become so damaged and I was hiding it under wigs for the past couple of months. towards the time that everybody got the natural hair craze, I still wasn't fazed. My best friend, roommate, close friends, everyone around me went natural. Couldn't understand my closest friends though. One has the long even magazine type hair, the other has a full Matt of relaxed hair, but they both went natural. so much so that there was nobody to help me put my relaxer in. My LOML even went extra, she became a natural Nazi. You know those ones right? They refuse to put any processed thing in their hair.
What I've learnt in the past couple of days
1. natural hair is not for everybody - especially broke people!
2. there's a whole new set of terminology you have to learn: TWA, shrinkage, co-wash, curl pattern - there should be a dictionary for this stuff!
3. the products! Whether you like it or not, there are tons of products that people "recommend", and as a rule, they don't come cheap.
4. You thought you knew all about oils? Watch out for a totally new horizon that opens up- coconut oil, jojoba oil, carrot something oil, etc
5. the YouTube obsession. You will be amazed at the repertoire of resources available on YouTube. Hair regimens, hair products, dealing with shrinkage, hair styles etc.
6. Who knew there was a natural hair chart? not me! o well, lemme go find out what "number" i am. i thought we only did those things for xxprexxions?
So my naturalistas, am I missing anything?
pS: I said "potentially stupid" cos what if this natural something doesn't work out? I fit gum the hair back? O well, thes always my faithful set of weaves sha.

Older and Wiser
Some twenty something odd years ago, mama bumight G2P1 delivered a gorgeous baby at full term gestation in an uncomplicated pregnancy...lol
so i got my birthday present in the most unbleievable miraculous way possible. I said i wanted an ipad, but i didnt have the money to get it for myself and there was nobody i thoughtcould
WOULD get it for me...bbut i've wanted the ipad for exactly a year now.
Anyways a friend calls me out of nowhere (hadt talked to her in at least 3 months maybe more) ad she told me she had $500 for me! I'm like shut the front door, you had $500 of my money and i didnt know else i'd have been hounding u like a rabid dog!...are you thinking what i'm thinking.
I've been expecting some money that's already een labelledbut to get $500 from nowhere on my birthday is definitely God's provision for my ipad. And as such Dr. Bumight is a happy camper.
Even though this "blessing" is a year late, its appriopriately timed cos my laptop has finally Kpafuka'ad, ipod has gone kaput too. so imma be one of those annoying people you see in the club taking pictures wit their ipad...iiKeed! iKeed!! lol

Like almost everybody else, my friend sent me the Andy Stanley series on "The new rules for sex, love and Marriage"
One thing ive known about me since my "love life"is that i'm a serial dater. i've always been in a relationship. especially since i had my famous 6 year relationship that had sort of defined my love life.
I felt like i was good enough especially for the kind of man i wanted, I figured i was good enough wifey material. I was ok looking, could cook up a mean meal, was a lady in the streets freak in d bed and as such i was just waiting for the right man to come along.
And in my quest, i had kissed a couple of frogs. I hated being alone -single.i still do.
However i never really realized what love is. i LOVE the way Andy breaks down 1 cor 13.
I've realized that even though i might not be the man im looking for. i would love to be the right person.
So im doing the 1 year challenge. To become the person i would love to be with, and i dont mean in terms of Job or degrees, but to become the person i want to be.
I know its not going to be easy because I've always believed that guys want something different from what girls want. and naija guys are on a whole different P. However, im gonna give it a try. That means if that guy that im secretly pining for or God forbid Wande Coal decides to ask me on a date, I'll have to say no abi? Le sigh.
O well, its not like im beating guys off my back lately, but it doesn't help that in d last year alone a lot of my friends have gotten married, and it seems like im 2 years too late.
I'm going to chronicle my journey on the blog my1yearchallenge.blogspot.com
No dating, no flirting, and all the new bad habits I've picked up i have to divest. That's gonna be the hardest part. I feel like one year might not be enough, and this is going to be the first time im going to blog about one part of my life that has always been kept under wraps on my blog.
I'll try to blog about twice a month
So May 3, 2013.
